Meet our Team

Meet Eduardo

My name is Eduardo Gonzalez and I am the founder of Sharyland Counseling Services. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor committed to empowering folks of all faiths and backgrounds to discover restorative healing through sharing their stories.

After serving families as a Sharyland ISD counselor for twenty-four years, I felt called to contribute to the community in a new capacity. Through the services we provide, I aim to support adolescents and adults seeking healing and hope by the grace of God’s goodness and love.

Blessed with nineteen years of marriage, I am a father to five beautiful children and three energetic grandchildren who keep me present in life’s simple joys. You will find us soaking up Valley sun year-round, knocking tennis balls across the courts, tending to our towering palms, enjoying neighborhood strolls, and filling the stands to support our children in sports and cheer. In my quiet moments, I enjoy cycling and sermons—especially those from the archives of Billy Graham. I find daily restoration through meditation on the word of God.

I believe everyone is worthy of wholeness in both mind and spirit. Sometimes uncovering this peace is best supported by a professional who will listen to, validate, and guide us through our lived experiences. During our time together, we will follow your lead to the depths of your heart. We will uncover tools to renew trust in the boundless hope of Jesus Christ, whose love for us remains steadfast through every season.

Meet Vanessa

Hi! My name is Vanessa Aleman and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor born and raised in McAllen, Tx. After leaving the Rio Grande Valley for 10 years to continue my education and develop my career path, I made my way back home to be closer to family and contribute to the community that I love.

I studied at Lamar University and received a Master's Degree in Counseling & Development. I worked in Education for 9 years as a Teacher, Coach and School Counselor. Now, as an LPC, I want to help people in all stages of life to achieve peace through faith-based counseling. I am a firm believer that spirituality plays a vital role in holistic wellness. It is in our Lord that we find strength, which allows us to trust in His guidance for our lives.

I am blessed with 2 wonderful years of marriage to my loving husband and we share our home and backyard with 2 dogs and 1 kitty. We love to travel the world, experience different cultures and witness God’s beauty through nature. You will find us outside often, shooting hoops at local parks or walking and listening to our favorite podcast: Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike Schmitz.

Using Person-Centered therapy as my foundation, I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering environment every session. Additional theories that I practice are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychotherapy, Logotherapy, and Gestalt Therapy. The strengths of these approaches are rooted in the capabilities of the client, while I serve as a guide. The process of trust and growth is a harmonious relationship between counselor and client where I help you learn to love yourself without judgment and strengthen your walk with Christ, as we journey through the challenges of life, together.

Meet Clarissa

My name is Clarissa Garcia and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, specializing in direct practice with Latino populations. I have served as a Court Victim Advocate supporting survivors of trauma within the legal system and as a mental health professional in Public Education. These experiences have shaped my holistic approach as a LCSW, where integrating therapeutic interventions with faith-based principles promotes emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

I believe that true healing comes not only through clinical interventions, but also through strengthening one's relationship with Christ. My mission is to walk alongside those seeking hope, restoration, and a deeper connection with their faith. We will work together in identifying strengths, overcoming challenges, and building resilience. Through counseling and supportive guidance, I strive to create a compassionate space where individuals can grow, heal, and embrace God's purpose for their lives.
